The pre-departure folder: five documents worth organising
A travel folder reduces the need to search several inboxes when a connection is late or a reception desk asks for a reference. Keep it small enough to find the useful information quickly.

Gather the essentials
Include transport confirmations, accommodation details, relevant entry documents, insurance information and emergency contacts. Store sensitive material securely. A copy can help with reference, but it does not necessarily replace an original document required for travel.
Make an offline version
Save files on a device you protect with a lock, and consider a suitable paper backup for essential addresses and references. Check that downloaded tickets actually open without a connection. Keep a trusted contact aware of your itinerary where appropriate.
Remove obsolete versions
Label the final booking clearly after a schedule change. Note the local time zone for departures and meeting times. Before leaving, check that names and dates match your documents and current plan. Avoid putting passwords or full payment details into a widely shared folder. The aim is a reliable small reference that still works when mobile data, battery life or attention is limited.
